As opposed to a head on collision where there is impact to the front of a vehicle, when an auto accident results in an impact to either side of the vehicle it is referred to as side swiping or a side swipe or more commonly as T-bone accident.
T-bone accidents are normally the result from the out of time turning of one vehicle into another. Side swiping accidents cause many injuries, but unlike head on collisions, their severity is usually lower since it tends to be a glancing blow rather than a direct impact.
